Yesterday, Google announced the list of accepted mentoring organizations and we have the great pleasure to be one of those.

In previous years, we have primarily focused on adventure games. ]However, after discussing with our sister project ResidualVM, we are happy to announce that, this year, we will also be accepting RPG tasks.

ScummVM and ResidualVM are now waiting for motivated students, willing to work during this summer on reviving adventure and role-playing games.

Be part of it! Make History and join our best GSoC so far! Take a look at our ideas page or bring your own idea, then contact us: we are waiting for you on IRC impatiently!

for our configuration file, our log file, and our default savegame path.
We still support our previous locations. As long as they are present, we
continue to use them. Please refer to the README for the new locations.
File locations on Mac OS X are not affected by this change.

3 Skulls of the Toltecs:
- Improved AdLib music support.

AGI:
- It is now possible to disable mouse support (except for Amiga versions
and fanmade games, that require a mouse).
- Fixed PCjr sound volumes.
- Major rewrite of graphics subsystem.
- Support for Apple IIgs, Amiga + Atari ST transitions, fonts and mouse
cursors. The Atari ST 8x8 system font is not included with ScummVM.
- Added ability to make for example a PC version look like an Apple IIgs
version. This includes palette, cursor, transition and even font. Just
set corresponding render mode.
- Fixed Apple IIgs game versions running too fast.
- Added support for automatic saving/restoring used by Mixed Up Mother Goose.
- Removed forced two second delay on room changes; replaced with heuristic.
- Fixed certain key bindings breaking after saving/reloading.

AGOS:
- Fixed arpeggio effect used in music of Amiga version of Elvira 1.
- Fixed loading and saving progress in the PC version of Waxworks.
- Fixed verb area been removed in Amiga versions of Simon the Sorcerer 1.
- Added Accolade AdLib & MT-32 music drivers for the games:
Elvira 1, Elvira 2, Waxworks and Simon the Sorcerer 1 demo.
- Added Simon the Sorcerer 1 AdLib output. This vastly improves the AdLib
output and makes it closer to the original.

Broken Sword 1:
- Fixed Macintosh version speech when running on big endian systems.
- Fixed loading from Main Menu in bull's head scene, and maybe other scenes.

CinE:
- Added support for music in CD version of Future Wars.

MADE:
- Improved AdLib music support in Return to Zork.

SAGA:
- Improved AdLib music support.

SCI:
- Handling of music priority has been greatly improved.
- A lot of fixes for original game script bugs that also occurred when
using the original interpreter. This affects the following games:
KQ6 (Dual Mode), LSL5, PQ1, QfG1 (EGA), QfG1 (VGA), QfG2, QfG3, SQ1,
SQ4 (CD).
- Restoring from the ScummVM in-game menu should now work all the time.
- Improved support for Japanese PC-9801 games.
- Default to hi res version of KQ6, changeable using engine option.

SCUMM:
- Major improvements to Korean versions text rendering.
- Implemented original Maniac Mansion v0-v1 walking code.
- It is now possible to play Maniac Mansion from within Day of the
Tentacle, with a few caveats. See README for details.
- Alt-x can now be used to quit SCUMM games on all platforms.
- Improved lip sync animation in later HE games.

Tinsel:
- Improved AdLib music support in Discworld 1.

Mystify , Mystify me (που ελεγε και ενα απο τα 2 ωραιοτερα τα τραγουδια των Inxs)
Σιγα μην εμενε απ εξω το Myst και κατα καποιο τροπο μαλλον πικρογλυκο ως γεγονος μια και θεωρουν αρκετοι φιιλοι των adventures αρα και του ScummVM οτι FMV +Risen Clones -περα απο το προφανες και 3D gaming/Doom εδαφος - τορπιλισαν/επιταχυναν το μαλλον αναποφευκτο ,δηλαδη την πτωση των adventures ως ηγετικου ειδους στα video games και την κατοπινη παρακμη τους (*) .
(ενω ισως υποτιμαται και η ... οποια "προλειαντικη" συνδρομη τoυ 8/16bit console gaming)

Βασική ερώτηση: ποιό είναι κατ' εσέ το δεύτερο από τα δύο ωραιότερα τραγούδια των INXS; Για το Mystify συμφωνώ ότι είναι εξαιρετικό, το έχω στο playlist του κινητού.
Παππού όλος ο κόσμος ανησυχεί μήπως η σχέση σου με την πιτσιρίκα αποβεί μοιραία.

ScummVM 1.8.1 Test Release

It is Time to Test ScummVM 1.8.1 Release

Since the 1.8.0 release we've been very busy with fixing small and big bugs in the newly supported engines, and now we are almost ready to present you the result in a form of the ScummVM 1.8.1.

Please, help us to test a few games, especially those which were not touched for a long time, or those which have significant changes in their engine. We prepared a short list on our wiki.

Also from now on we encourage you to test any game which we support and report any bugs or your success on the forum so we can keep track of current state of affairs in the ScummVM Land.

For testing the pre-release you need to download a daily build of ScummVM. If you spot some glitches or bugs, please report them on our bug tracker. If everything went smoothly, please report your success on the forums, and we will instantly reflect it on the wiki (yes, you can be famous for your testing efforts!) You can find a guide on how to test a new release here.

A few games are still missing screenshots. Please help up complete our gallery.

New ports:
- Added Nintendo 3DS port.
- Added Android SDL port.

General:
- Removed TESTING flag from several supported games.
- Added Chinese Pinyin translation.
- Fixed cursor stuttering in the launcher that occured on some systems.

BBVS:
- Fixed game restart.

CinE:
- Fixed sound effect loading.

Drascula:
- Fixed text alignment to be faithful to the original.
- Fixed character walking off screen.
- Fixed loading savegames in the Pendulum scene.
- Fixed wrong background for inventory items during chapter 6 in the
Spanish version.
- Fixed animations speed (they were running two times slower than in the
original engine).
- Fixed noise at start and/or end of speech. This was most noticeable
with the Spanish speech.
- Fixed delay when interacting with the verb menu and the inventory.
- Fixed possibility to pick up the axe in the castle multiple times.

Gob:
- Fixed lock up for some games during sound initialization.

KYRA:
- Fixed potential crash when using swamp snake potion on the rat in Hand
of Fate. (NOTE: This fix was included in version 1.8.0, but it was not
added to the NEWS file).
- Fixed missing voice reactions when hitting enemies in CD version of
Lands of Lore.

Lab:
- Fixed lock-up during ending sequence.
- Improved internal game controls.
- Fixed lock-up during some in-game animations.

SAGA:
- Fixed user interface colors in the French and German versions of I Have No
Mouth and I Must Scream.

SCI:
- Make cursor workarounds work properly on OpenPandora (and other devices, that
support touch screen and analog sticks/mouse at the same time)
- Script patch to fix broken ending battle in multilingual King's Quest 5
(French, German + Spanish versions are all broken)
- Fixed invalid memory access, when loading broken King's Quest 5 credit music track
- Fixed lowres/hires issues in King's Quest 6 when saving, changing the lowres/hires
setting and restoring the saved game afterwards.

SCUMM:
- Fixed detection of Maniac Mansion from Day of the Tentacle in the Windows
version of ScummVM.
- Fixed a sound effect not stopping in Loom EGA with AdLib.

Broken Sword 2.5:
- Added option to use English speech instead of German one when no speech is
available for the selected language.
- Fixed resource releasing on game exit.
- Fixed game restart after language change in-game.
- Fixed flickering in main Menu.
- Fixed long save time on Windows.

Windows port:
- Fixed bug in MIDI device listing affecting cases where MIDI devices were
not usable.

Mac OS X port:
- Dock menu for ScummVM now lists recently played games when ScummVM is
not running and allows starting those games.
- Enabled Sparkle application updater.

GCW0 port:
- Improved support for built-in ScummVM documentation.
It has been a couple of months since ScummVM 1.8.0, which means it’s time for a new point release! ScummVM 1.8.1 is now available with fixes for important bugs and support for even more platforms.

One of the most important "features" of this release is a major upgrade to the Android port. This upgrade also adds support for the OUYA console. We are currently working on bringing this new release straight to Google Play, but for the impatient among you, feel free to go ahead and install the APKs manually. The Android port now comes in two flavours, our "classic" OpenGL-based one, and a new variant based on SDL. The SDL port has better compatibility with some Android devices and also works better with some engines. Please give it a try and tell us on our forums or via the bug tracker about your experience.

We will also be adding Nintendo 3DS support! As of release time, the new binaries have not yet been built by our new porter, but they should be available soon. Keep your eyes peeled!

64-bit Mac binaries now include experimental automatic update checking using Sparkle. Auto-updating is selected as an opt-in during your first start up, and by default checks weekly for new releases. When version 1.9.0 is released, users of 1.8.1 will be presented with a nice dialog for updating. If you'd like to see a similar feature for Windows or other platforms, let us know! All the details on how the update process works can be found here.

No ScummVM release would be complete without game engine updates! ScummVM 1.8.1 includes fixes for Drascula, Legend of Kyrandia, Labyrinth of Time, localized versions of I Have No Mouth, Broken Sword 2.5 and improvements to the Windows, OS X and GCW0 ports.

To σχετικα αγνωστο στους περισσοτερους (και σε μενα) το U.F.O.s -ενα adventure (με καποιες arcade διαλειματακια/mini games)- της βετερανου developer Artech στο οποιο ενσαρκωνεται το ρολο ενος ναυαγισμενου στο πλανητη Γη εξωγηινου ο οποιος προσπαθει να επισκευασει το Αστροπολιο προκειμενου να μας αδειασει την γωνια και το οποιο κυκλοφορησε το 1997 για Windows/Mac,προστιθεται και αυτο στα νεουποστηριζομενα ScummVM games .

Mεχρι την official ScummVM εκδοση(που θα αργησει) οπως παντα :arrow: daily builds του ScummVM.

ScummVM Release 1.9.0 Testing Has Begun


Time flies quickly, and now it is time to start the release cycle for ScummVM 1.9.0.

Two new game engines became production quality, and we would like to ask you to test the following games:


Myst
Myst: Masterpiece Edition
U.F.O.s
Also, our SCI engine team has been busy improving the ScummVM experience with Sierra games, particularly with fixing the original script bugs. Thus, we would like to ask you to test several of those games as well.

The complete list of the games that require testing for this release can be found on our wiki.

Please use a daily build of ScummVM for testing. In case you encounter any bugs, there is a place for them to be reported at our bug tracker. Please, also track your progress on the forum thread and we can cross it out on the wiki.

New Games:
- Added support for Myst.

General:
- Fixed audio corruption in the MS ADPCM decoder.
- Fixed audio pitch in the CMS/GameBlaster emulation.
- Switched SDL backend to SDL2 by default. SDL1 is still a fallback.

AGI:
- Added support for Hercules rendering. Both green and amber modes are
supported.
- Added support for the Hercules high resolution font. The font is also
usable outside of Hercules rendering.
- Added optional "pause, when entering commands" feature, that was only
available in the original interpreter for Hercules rendering.

Beneath a Steel Sky:
- Fixed a bug that could possibly make the game unfinishable due to a
wrong animation for Officer Blunt that makes further interaction with
this character impossible.

Gob:
- Fixed graphical issues in Gobliiins (EGA version).

Kyra:
- Updated Italian EOB1 translation.
- Fixed a bug that caused a crash in Lands of Lore.

SCI:
- Fixed a missing dialog line in QfG3 which awards the player with 3 additional
points. This is a bug in the original game interpreter. Due to this bug,
it was not possible to get all points in the original game.
- Fixed a bug in Space Quest 1 that caused issues with the spider droid.
- Fixed a bug in Laura Bow: The Colonel's Bequest that could cause a lock-up when
interacting with the armor in room 37 (main house, downstairs). This bug is also
present in the original game.
- Fixed auto-saving in the fan-made Cascade Quest.
- Fixed a game bug in the Conquests of Longbow scripts that could cause crashes in Sherwood Forest.
- Added support for the ImagiNation Network (INN) demo.

SCUMM:
- Fixed missing translations in the in-game quit and restart dialogs in Pajama Sam 1.
- Fixed visual glitches in DOTT that occured after loading a savegame with the stereo
in Green Tentacle's room turned on.
- Improved timing and pathfinding in Maniac Mansion (C64 and Apple II versions)
- Added support for the Dutch demo of Let's Explore the Airport with Buzzy.

Sherlock:
- Fixed a bug that could cause a crash in The Case of the Serrated Scalpel.
- Fixed an issue with item hotspots in The Case of the Serrated Scalpel.
- Fixed a bug that caused game lockups in the inventory of The Case of the Rose Tattoo.

Amiga port:
- Added support for AmiUpdate autoupdates.

Linux port:
- Added basic support for the snap packaging system.

Windows port:
- Fixed taskbar support on Windows 10 onwards.
- Fixed keymapping for non-QWERTY keyboards.
- Added support for WinSparkle updater.
As always, we have been busy adding more games and enhancing old ones. Now, after many years in production, we are proud to announce support for Myst and Myst: Masterpiece Edition.

Besides that, we now support U.F.O.s and the early Sierra Hi-Res adventures, namely Hi-Res Adventure #0: Mission Asteroid, Hi-Res Adventure #1: Mystery House and Hi-Res Adventure #2: The Wizard and the Princess, for a total of six newly supported games.

With this release we are switching to SDL 2, so please, report any bugs you encounter. Last time we introduced Sparkle-based updates for Mac, and now we're trying to launch it also for Windows. Hopefully, you will see it in action once we release our next version. Once again, we would like to mention that auto-updating is selected as an opt-in during your first start up. By default, if you enable it, it will check weekly for new releases. Screenshots of this in action can be seen at the WinSparkle website.

Notable bugfixes and enhancements include Hercules rendering and font for the AGI games, numerous bugfixes to SCI games, enhanced Sherlock games experience, and AmiUpdate on the Amiga port.

(If you have been itching to play some of the earlier SCI games, please take this time to run through them again too, as changes to the engine may also affect some 16-bit SCI games!)

ScummVM (Sierra's Hi-Res Adventures)

Last year, we added support for three of Sierra's Hi-Res Adventure games: Mystery House (#1), Mission: Asteroid (#0) and Wizard and the Princess (#2). We're proud to announce that three more Apple II games are now playable in ScummVM and ready for testing: Ulysses and the Golden Fleece (#4), Time Zone (#5) and The Dark Crystal (#6).

For Ulysses and the Golden Fleece, we currently support the Load 'N' Go budget release. For Time Zone and The Dark Crystal we support the disk images that can be found on some of the Sierra collection CDs. The Datafiles wiki page has been updated with the required filenames for the disk images.


You may be wondering what happened to Hi-Res Adventure #3: Cranston Manor. Unfortunately, we still have not been able to locate a copy of this game after looking for it for over a year. If you own it, we'd love to hear from you!

Starship Titanic in ScummVM- WIP
Explore a broken-down luxury cruise liner, try to convince the Deskbot to give you an upgrade, and eventually track down and fix the ship's governing computer, Titania. Or you're never going to get home. We're pleased to announce the testing period for the late '90s game Starship Titanic. At this time, only the English version is ready for testing. So break out your copy, and grab the latest daily build of ScummVM. You'll also need an extra requiredtitanic.dat file, which should be put in the same folder you copy your game files to.

Before you start your test run, please be aware there is one specific kind of Indeo encoded AVI video we haven't yet figured out how to decode transparency information for. In a few areas, such as the SGT Stateroom and Titania's closeup, amongst others, you'll see objects with jagged black areas around them.
