On the 9th of October 2001, the very first commit was made to a CVS repository and thus the ScummVM project was born...

As I write this post, it is now the 11th of October 2013 and we have over 58000 commits in the ScummVM Git repository... but still based on that initial commit over a decade ago!

Thus on the project's 12th anniversary, I believed ScummVM deserved a present... Thus myself, James Woodcock and the ScummVM PR Team present "ScummVM: THE MOVIE"! :)

This visualization is powered by Gource.If you want to play with this yourself or render a full length HD version, then you can find the scripts to do this here.

To celebrate 12 years of development, a few of the ScummVM team including myself have taken it upon ourselves to mark this occasion with a video affectionally known as 'ScummVM The Movie!". Included is a twenty minute animation, showing how the project started in 2001 with very humble beginnings and a few developers - exploding to hundreds of dedicated coders, massive amounts of code and an array of file structures.

As time progresses in the video, you will see how the source code is enhanced, tweaked, organised and expanded with a range of different developers all volunteering their free time to play a part in the success of the ScummVM software.

Το είχα δει όταν το πρωτοέφτιαξαν. Εντάξει δεν το λες και movie, βαρετό είναι για όποιον έχει ξαναδεί Gource.
Την πρώτη φορά εντυπωσιάζει, το πρόγραμμα βέβαια (το gource) όχι η "ταινία".

Θα ήταν καλύτερα να έφτιαχναν κάτι με τους χαρακτήρες από τα όσα adventures που παίζουν μέσα, παντρεύοντας πχ. έτοιμες ατάκες.

Wintermute is coming, brace for testing
The Wintermute engine has been in the works in ScummVM for a little over a year now, and it has gotten more and more mature, to the point that we feel it is getting close to being ready for release.

Since the amount of games involved is rather huge, we'd love to get some help with a round of testing before we check off on the engine being ready for our next release. Thus, we have semi-arbitrarily selected a set of Wintermute-games that would benefit from some testing, and hope that some of our wonderful users are willing to take them for a spin.

So, the Wintermute-engine has seen another year of development in ScummVM, and now it's time to for me to ask for a little bit of help again:

A few games are known to work, but could do with some thorough testing, which is why I need someone to test the following games thoroughly, and report back here with any issues. If the games work fine, please do tell what platform and ScummVM-version you ran them on.

The following games have been tested atleast once before, but needs a thorough playtest:

Non-Freeware games: (Available for digital purchase atleast a few places on the net).

Also, the following games have not been tested AT ALL by yours truly, it would be truly helpfull if anyone wants to try to do a full playthrough to verify whether these games are completable:

If you're interested in testing, just grab a copy of the freeware-games from their respective homepage-links above (or in the case of the non-freeware-games, buy a copy). Thendownload a nightly build of ScummVM, and test the game. Report any issues to the ScummVM Bug-Tracker, in the group "Wintermute". As I said before, I would also love to hear in this thread if you played through the game without any issues at all.

Return to Ringworld playable>ScummVM

"They said it would it would never be done. They were wrong." After a slight hiatus at the start of the year, work has finally finished on our next TsAGE game, Return to Ringworld. The only remaining work still in progress is a card game available on the in-game consoles, and is completely unrelated to the main story.

This is a direct sequel to the original Ringworld game.. after saving the puppeteer race from extermination and uncovering some powerful ancient technology on the first game, Quinn, Seeker of Vengeance and Miranda Rees find themselves searched for as fugitives by all three major species, so they plan to go to Ringworld to hide. But it turns that their ship has suffered problems. And fixing them and getting to Ringworld will only be the start of their problems..

The ScummVM Team is proud to announce that Return to Ringworld is now playable in ScummVM using the latest daily builds, and ready for testing. As usual, all bugs should be reported to our bug tracker following our bug submission guidelines. While you play through the game, we would also love it if you could take some screenshots for us."

Και βεβαια μια και η ενσωματωση της υποστηριξη της Wintermute engine στο Scummvm εχει ξεκινησει απο το 2011 στα πλαισια του Google summer of Code .
Kαι δεν ειναι το μονο intermute engine based engine το οποιo ειναι playable μεσω του Scummvm βεβαιααλλα ο αριθμος τους ειναι ηδη (οριακα) διψηφιος.

Φυσικα θα χρειαστητε :arrow: την ποιο προσφατη daily build του ScummVM

You are Jerome Lange, a Bogart clone private eye who's received an invitation from an old friend to join her at Mortville Manor to help with a desperate situation. With a name like Mortville you might suppose something is seriously wrong and, yes, you're right. Your old friend Julia has already departed to Deadsville.

So... Who did dunnit?

Based on the sources provided by DotEmu and by Lankhor founders and developers, the ScummVM Team is pleased to announce support for France's 1987 Game of the Year:Mortville Manor. Only the DOS versions are supported, and ScummVM is bringing to you the first DOS English translation. So, grab your disk and copy the files, then start playing using the latest daily build of ScummVM and help us testing it.

The forthcoming 1.7.0 release of ScummVM is almost here! This time around, we have a total of five newly supported games:
Chivalry Is Not Dead
Mortville Manor
Return to Ringworld
The Neverhood
Voyeur

But before we can release the latest and greatest version of ScummVM, we need help testing out all these new games. Besides the aforementioned new games for this release, the DOS floppy versions of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and Loom, require testing running with our AdLib emulator. You can always check out which games still need testing on our wiki. There are also a few other old classics on that list that could use another run through.

New Games:

Added support for Chivalry is Not Dead.
Added support for Return to Ringworld.
Added support for The Neverhood.
Added support for Mortville Manor.
Added support for Voyeur.

General:
Updated Munt MT-32 emulation code to version 1.3.0.
Switched from our custom JPEG and PNG decoders to libjpeg(-turbo) and libpng, which are faster and can handle more images. (NOTE: The change to libpng was done in version 1.6.0, but it was not added to the NEWS file).
Added generic OpenGL (ES) output (based on GSoC Task).
The GUI can now be rendered in 32-bits.
The build system has been changed to be more modular and easier to add new engines.

SDL:
Added OpenGL graphics mode based on our generic OpenGL output. This allows for arbitrary output sizes. However, it does not support special filters like AdvMAME, HQ, etc.

AGOS:
Added mouse wheel support for inventory and save game lists.
Enabled verb name display in Simon the Sorcerer 2.
Fixed the Feeble Files loyalty rating in the English 4CD version. (This was apparently a bug in the original game. It is currently unknown if other versions still have the same problem.)

Broken Sword 1:
Added back support for MPEG-2 videos.

Broken Sword 2:
Added back support for MPEG-2 videos.

CGE:
Added an option to enable "Color Blind Mode" to the ScummVM GUI.

Gob:
Improved video quality in Urban Runner.

Hopkins:
Added an option to toggle "Gore Mode" from the ScummVM GUI.
Fixed bug that could cause the music to stop prematurely.

Pegasus:
Fixed several rare crashes and glitches.
Fixed multiple bugs carried over from the original binary.

SCI:
Added support for the more detailed RAVE lip syncing data in the Windows version of King's Quest 6. Portraits should now be much more expressive when talking.
Added support for simultaneous speech and subtitles in the CD versions of Laura Bow 2 and King's Quest 6 (toggled either in-game with the new "Dual" audio state, or via the ScummVM audio options).
Fixed music fading.
Fixed several script bugs in Camelot, Crazy Nick's, Hoyle 3, QFG1VGA, KQ5, KQ6, LB2, LSL2, LSL5, Pharkas, PQ1VGA, SQ4, SQ5.
Improved the MIDI parser so that music event processing is done more properly.

SCUMM:
Changed the saved game naming scheme of HE games to always contain the target name.
Fixed having multiple coaches in Backyard Football.
Improved AdLib support for Loom and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
This makes sound effects like, for example, the typewriter and waterfall
in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade sound like in the original.
Added support for the Steam versions of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, Loom and The Dig. Both the Windows and the Macintosh versions are supported.

TONY:
Savegames in Tony Tough now work on big-endian systems.

Tinsel:
Discworld 1 and 2 no longer crash on big-endian systems.

Android port:
Added experimental support for the OUYA console.

PS2 port:
Added configurable TV modes: NTSC and PAL.
Added configurable graphics modes: SDTV progressive, SDTV interlaced, EDTV progressive and VESA.
Added a configuration option for the HDD partition used.
Added a configuration option for the IP address used.
Added a configuration option to toggle USB mass storage.

Tizen port:
The BADA port has been merged/updated into Tizen.

Το ScummVM υποστηριζει & το Sfinx

We recently added support for a new game, Sfinx, in ScummVM, and we can now proudly announce that it is ready to be tested. Thanks to the original developers, this game is now freeware and can be downloaded on our web site. And in addition to the original Polish version we are also proposing an English version! This version is not final, so we are looking for people who speak English and/or Polish and who are not afraid of spotting spelling and grammar mistakes in the texts of the game (English only), while also looking for different bugs, glitches and other evil things.

Τo ScummVM (pre 1.8.0 )δεν σταματα να διευρυνει την λιστα με τα 2D adventures που υποστηριζει προσθετωντας αυτη την φορα το Sfinx της πολωνικης LK Avalon της οποιας παιχνιδι ειναι και το Soltys που υποστηριζει ηδη απο την 1.5.0 εκδοση του ScummVM.

Γουστάρουμε ScummVM.

Επιτέλους βρήκα χρόνο το καλοκαιράκι και τερμάτισα το Curse of the Monkey Island φορτωμένο στο ScummVM.

ScummVM takes you on an adventure in the world of Zork, with support for two new games! In Zork Nemesis: The Forbidden Lands, your task is to embark on a journey to solve the mystery of a spirit called Nemesis, and of the four alchemists it killed. On your second journey to Zork, in Zork: Grand Inquisitor, you must find three legendary objects that will restore all magic to the realm and bring about the fall of Grand Inquisitor Yannick, whose goal is to "shun magic, shun the appearance of magic, shun everything, and then shun shunning".

Τo ScummVM (pre 1.8.0 )συνεχιζει ακαθεκτο και μετα το το Sfinx με την υποστηριξη της
Ζ-vision engine της Activision προσθετει Zork Nemesis: The Forbidden Lands &&& Zork: Grand Inquisitor .
Αυτο επιτευχθηκε portαροντας στο ScummVM την ηδη υπαρχουσα (και σχετικα αγνωστη) Zengine της Marisa-Chan μεσω της οποιας μπορουσε καποιος να παιξει τα 2 προσθετει 2 παιχνιδια (σε Win/Linux) η οποια ομως δεν ηταν και πολυ ευχρηστη ,αλλωστε οπως αναφερεται και στην ιδια της την σελιδα (πlease use scummvm implementation because it better)
