Απο τον Spyburg τον τυπο που εκανε το εντυπωσιακο Demake του Super Mario Bros στο Atari VCS 2600 με οτι σημαινει αυτο για την σοβαροτητα και την καλυτερη δυνατη ποιοτητα του εγχειρηματος παντα μεσα στις δεδομενες συγκεκριμενες δυνατοτητες και ορια των Atari 2600 ,ξεκινησε την δημιουργια Sonic-παιχνιδου στον θρυλικο 2600 .

Oριστε και το πρωτο demo/δειγμα -αποτελεσμα μιας βδομαδας μονο δουλειας- που εχει κανει !!!!

Here it is everyone! I know there's still a few small bugs to resolve, but it's playable! This is Hill Zone 1. Now just 15 more levels to make, the overhead map selection, the boss battles, and a few other things. I hope I have enough ROM space to pull it off.

Controls:
Left/Right moves left right.
Fire/Action Button Jumps.
Down and Action button when standing still spins you up. Let go of the action button to let Zippy go!

I was originally going to have rings explode from Zippy when he got hit by an enemy but with the enemy still on screen I found it rather impossible to do, so here's my work-around. When you get hit by an enemy, the enemy "steals" your rings. To get some of them back you have to "pop" the enemy. Once the enemy goes off screen, so does the possibility to get your rings back.

About:
Not long ago I started to port my own game Sacred Line (it's free and was released for PC and Mac, later ported to Linux) to the one of my favourite consoles - Mega Drive.
Originally it's a first person surreal thriller with red-black-white style, while Mega Drive / Genesis port is a Visual Novel / Quest Adventure and it's much darker than original game in every aspect (especially graphics-wise, considering downgrade), it also moved more into a horror (plus has a slightly different story and explains things which were left unexplained in the original).

The game is free of censorship and recommended for Mature audience only (pretty much anti-religious plot combined with blood/gore, nudity, strong language, mature humor, etc.).
While original game has only two endings (normal and secret), port will contain both of them + plus several bad endings.

I'm thinking about Fighting Fantasy battle system (yes, playing with dice in front of your TV or Monitor), let me know what you think about it, maybe it's not appropriate.
Quite a challenge to convert a 700mb PC game into a 4mb rom, but it's an interesting challenge.

Double Action Blaster Guys(Nes)

Double Action Blaster Guys is the sequel to my contribution to the 2011 compo, Forehead Block Guy.
It's completely rewritten so it's nowhere near as buggy as FHBG was, and I took the opportunity to rewrite it with two simultaneous players in mind, hence pluralizing Guy in the title.

I just sent the final version of the game to JF today. I spent the last 5 days testing all the features and levels to be sure everything is in working order. If you're still interested, here's what I've added to the game since last time:
Speed selector. You can choose between fast (default) or slow speed on the title screen or anytime during the game with the "#" key. I put "Fast" as the default speed because it's really the best way to play. It's more exciting and satisfying. Even if you think you're not good enough, once you go fast, I'm pretty sure you'll never return to slow again! Anyway, the choice is there throughout the game.
Different colored floors. Each 10 levels completed will change the colors of the floors and status bar. This will keep things interesting.
A demo after the title screen.
"Continue" option at game over screen. You can always resume the game at the last level you reached after losing all your lives. Your score is reset though. With this and the "level select" cheat, you can play any of the 150 levels at anytime.
Enemy walks slower now. Not by much! But I made it so the timing is exactly like the C64 version. In that one, the more enemies on screen at a time, the slower they walk. With 2 enemies, they walk half of your speed. With 5 enemies, they walk 2/5 of your speed. The rest is in between.
Screen savers everywhere! Well, everywhere the game is waiting for a user input (pause menu, level select cheat, etc.). Screen saver itself is nothing fancy, just a blank screen. Just trying to save those old CRTs!!!
There's 8 melodies that play (chosen at random) when you grab the last gold. If you're a fan of metal music, you may recognize some riffs in there! Also they can play on 3 different musical scales to keep things interesting.
Stats on game over. The game over screen now display the final score, the last level played and the amount of levels passed. That last one is interesting when you complete the 150th level because the game continues with the levels chosen at random. Also interesting if you use a certain "random levels" cheat...
You can cheat freely (bypass a level, add lives, level select, etc.). The only difference is that the score changes colors to indicate that it has been obtained through a none conventional method.

To πιο αξιοσημείωτο πάντως απ'τα πρόσφατα post του Nemo είναι κατά τη γνώμη μου το ELansar για Jaguar που φυσικά εξαντλήθηκε. ΜΟυ κάνει εντύπωση που η homebrew Αταρι scene δεν είναι τόσο ενεργή πια.

Εχουμε και το πρωτο παιχνιδι για CPC φτιαγμενο για τον Amstrad CPC με το AGD - Arcade Game Designer .
Προκειται για το Arcade Lab του ,ενα μινι arcade adventure ,οπου πρεπει να δραπετευσετε απο ενα επιστημονικο(???) εργαστηριο ,το οποιο προκειται να εκραγει ,ενω πρεπει να αποφυγεται φωτιες , λακουβες με οξυ , και μεταλαγμενες φουσκες ,κι επειδη βρισκομαστε σε περιοδο κρισης καλο ειναι να μαζευετε τα ??? χρηματα ??? τα οποια ειναι διασκορπισμενα στο εργαστηριο (τωρα τι ειδους εργαστηριο/LAB μπορει να ειναι αυτο ,προφανως καποιο undergroung-μαφιοζικο στα υπογεια καμιας βιοτεχνιας με μλουζακια και γυναικειες τσαντες ,<<μαιμου>> παντα ????? )
(Απαραιτητο το joystick λογω AGD ) .

Eνω απο τα τελη Ιουνίου(29 συγκεκριμμενα), εχει κυκλοφορησει η 1.2 version του AGD - Arcade Game Designer για το Amstrad CPC.
I've fixed a bug in the object initialisation code in the game engine so it should now be possible to place objects on any screen.

Αfter a (too?) long break after the first release candidate and a lot of extra Hard WorkTM of many people, we proudly present you: The first beta release of Star Castle Arcade for the Atari 2600!

The attached zip file contains two ROMs, one for Stella (suffix ".bin"; make sure to get the latest version, always a good idea!) and one for the Harmony cart (suffix ".cu"; BIOS 1.05 required!).

The game is 99.9% done, so what this version needs most is some extensive play testing with fresh eyes.

The difficulty starts too high or ramps up too fast? The homing mines become too aggressive? The sounds are not well balanced? The controls feel sluggish? You found a bug? ... Eagerly awaiting your feedback!

The changes done since the last release are too long to list them all here, you will notice the most relevant ones anyway. Here are the more important ones:
To allow better maneuvering, the vertical size of the play field area has been increased, the ships size has been decreased.
You got a 3rd bullet to fire simultaneously. How great is that?
Difficulty now ramps up with the score, not the castle.
Sounds and graphics have been added or greatly enhanced. Thanks to Nathan Strum and Ivan Machado (LS_Dracon)!
For your pleasure, the rings are now more nicely animated. They also now behave more like the arcade version.
Many, many small changes to make the game more close to the arcade version
Improved high score saving

Switches:
RESET (during the game): abort game
SELECT (at the title screen): change palette (NTSC, PAL, B/W)
Setting the LEFT DIFFICULTY to A will cause game to start at a higher difficulty (~50% of the maximum difficulty). Very helpful for testing, too.
Setting the RIGHT DIFFICULTY to A will cause the ship to be destroyed by the rings (instead of bouncing off). This is nasty!
Note: You must start a new game to make difficulty switches changes become effective. No cheating for high scores!

The game now maintains one high score per difficulty setting. Besides the palette, the initials are saved now too. So, except when playing against your friends, you never have to enter your initials again!

Note: Note that the high score table is not stored to your Harmony in this version, so it will be deleted when you switch off your Atari. But it works with Stella.
