Arcade Stick - how you play

Hello Greek players.
I have one question to you. When you play on arcade stick or on arcade machine -> what hand you use for move joystick and what hand for fire?

I ask because on MARP forum some guy from Greece write that in your country you use right hand for move joystick and left for buttons.

Yes is true for some of us ! I used to use the right hand for the joy and left for the buttons. This setup was mostly in north Greece for custom cabs but I played in left joy setups as well. Most of the original cabs had the joy on the left side though.

Well it depends...a lot of new arcade machines have the "left joystick" layout.
I used to control the stick with the right hand and fire(s) with the left one.
That's the way I've built my own -custom made- arcade joystick.

I used to play with cabinets which had the joy on the left...
So i now use my left hand for the joy and my right hand for the buttons...

p.s. I own an x-arcade controller which helps me a lot with the ''left joystick layout'' as GeoAnas mentioned before...

Hello destructor.
It's very difficult and annoying to use a different layout joystick when you're used to one.
X-Arcade would sell much more here if it had the "right" layout...

Thanks for replies. I see that some of players in Greece use right hand for joystick. It is small surprise for me especially that AS/cab manufacturers usually place joystick on left side.
I personally use left hand for joystick.

Do you players know person who is named 'tk2007'? He say that he is from Greece and if someone use left hand for joystick then he can't be master on any game. He is strange guy, if you want to see what he say then please:

No, actually we all have heard of tk2007...just not with that nickname. "Annie", "Annos", "Giorgos", "Punisher" and some others ring more bells

He's a notorious troll, been active here as well. Also on other Greek and foreign forums. Always with different nicknames, but the exact same attitude. He knows everything and is great at everything, everyone else is wrong or has no idea, he's not a kid but 35+ etc etc. But there's ONE unmistakable sign: he has a "Decathlete in MAME" obsession.

IMHO everything falls into place.

I can only suggest the following:
a) don't give any value to anything he says
b) don't try any logical explanations, they won't work
c) he'll get worse over time, usually starts slow and then gets into heavy trolling
d) BAN HIM ASAP or you are done for...

P.S: About your question, now... As a child, I remember that most (if not all) of the arcade cabinets had the stick on the right side, something that has changed in the past 10-12 years or so... That's why we got used to holding the stick with our right hand, so most of us still have the same habit even though the stick is now on the left side... I know it seems strange, but I guess... you can't teach an old dog new tricks...
